Week 1: A sweeping overview of the history of video game music, the basics of video game music analysis using two different models: classical music theory and video game narrative structure (adaptive audio, non-linear stories, etc)
Week 2: An in-depth look at Koji Kondo, the creator of some of the most iconic video game melodies (Mario, Zelda, Super Smash Bros)
Week 3: Andrew Norman (an orchestral composer inspired by video game narratives), preparation for next week’s presentations
Week 4: Students will present their own individual analysis of a video game soundtrack of their choosing
